7 Reasons why moms babywear

I am sure most moms have come across the term "babywearing" before, and some of you might already be babywearers, or you have been too shy to ask about it. When I wear Caden, I get a lot of stares and questions like, "Shame! The poor baby must be getting so hot in there!" Or, "Why don't you just put him in a pram, it is so much easier!" Well ladies... Here is some info

1.) There are a lot of different carriers on the market, and a lot of good options. Most of the well known brands are cool and breathable, and babies don't get extremely hot in them like some people tend to think. On a really hot day, you can also keep baby in a nappy and put a muslin cloth between the two of you. Some hikers even put a cold wet cloth between their t-shirts. 2.) Babies (and even toddlers) get over-stimulated really quickly. I was reading an article the other day on why you should get a pram that faces mamma, and some of the reasons mentioned were because the baby will get over stimulated and they tend to get scared and insecure because they can't see you? Well, even better, strap your baby onto you where they can face you and snuggle up when they feel scared, tired or when things are just too much. Nothing like a mammas bosom when you feel insecure. 3.) You can breastfeed discreetly (Not because it is wrong to breastfeed in the open, but sometimes mammas feel uncomfortable to do that) so you can put baba in their carrier, pop out a boob, pull up the hood, and nurse your baba without anyone having a clue as to what you are doing in there.

4.) How on earth are moms expected to go to the shops and push a pram and a trolley? It is not possible.... Thank goodness for babywearing. 5.) No, I don't need to have a back of steel in order to babywear. The right carrier (it's all about ergonomics) helps you to spread the weight evenly over your shoulders and your hips. The carriers I have very nicely padded shoulders (or other things like wraps and ring slings have material that spread nicely over your shoulder) so it is really comfy actually. It is easier for me to carry my 14kg, 9 month old baby boy in a carrier, than what it is to carry him in my arms. 6.) You get constant cuddles and "the look of love" (as seen in the picture above) and this is so awesome for mammas who suffer from Post Natal Depression. Seeing your baby need you, and want to be close to you while still being able to get out of the house or do chores and even work... I know how much I actually needed this when I struggled with PND with my firstborn. 7.) A carrier is a stunning accessory to any outfit... there are so many to choose from!
